C Major Pentatonic (C3-C5)
Set of 11 Chimes tuned in C Major Pentatonic (C3-C5)
Ranging from 1.6m-2.4m (63" - 95") this sound sculpture delivers powerful resonant tones encompassing the full pitch range of our Tubular Bells and Emperor Chimes.
Built with durable aluminum to withstand tough environments, the center post is strengthened, and the outer tubes are fixed using stainless steel security screws located on top and bottom. Each bell is capped to prevent debris from entering the bell and dampening the sound.
The Colossus Chimes come complete with four metal posts, each with a large mallet attached by steel cables. There are a variety of ways that the chimes can be arranged, as the mallet posts offer a considerable amount of range. Visitors will experience the pure joy of making music and playing with sound the outdoors as they strike the aluminum chimes with the mallets.
Colossus Chimes are great sensory, interactive items perfect for music therapy, sensory gardens, and inclusive playgrounds. Players can feel the sound resonating through their whole body when they reach out and touch the chimes after being struck with the mallets.

Testimonials
Christy Schink - Associate Director of Youth and Outreach Services Librarian, Scenic Library Missouri
We have Soprano Quartet instruments at 5 of our 9 library branches and are hoping to add them to all of our branches. We were looking for something to pull people out onto our outdoor patios in our new buildings, and these have been perfect. The company is great to work with and their products are exceptionally high quality.
Principal Carmen Montero Graf, Ed.D. East Garner Elementary School, Garner, North Carolina
“Our new Music Teacher at East Garner Elementary School will be taking lots of lessons in the playground using the new instruments this year. I’m excited to see if we have any budding musicians and how we can help nurture their talent.”
Meet the Percussion Play App
Music for the Great Outdoors.
Download our App and play our outdoor Akadinda with just your device and fingertips!
The App also includes a comprehensive resource for landscape architects, playground designers, senior living managers, school or nursery leaders, music therapists, or park and recreation professionals. Information contained on the App includes; installation instructions, videos, dimension and plan drawings, product certificates, and lots and lots of images.
Why would you need the App? The app is “native” to the device on which it’s designed to run so it loads and operates faster than a responsive website on the same device. Additionally, once downloaded, the app doesn’t need an Internet connection to work, which means it can always be opened and used. This is handy when you're not connected and want a critical piece of information whilst in the field.
About Percussion Play
Outdoor Musical Instruments should, of course, be heard and an important factor in choosing the right instrument is the sound it makes. By selecting an instrument, you will be able to listen to a sound recording or watch a short video of the instrument being played.
There is no greater joy than finding the right instrument and we hope this makes it easier for you to select the right outdoor musical instrument for you, your school, or your outdoor environment or play area.
Percussion instruments are the oldest type of musical instrument with many different musical personalities. As our Company name implies, all our instruments are true percussion instruments, designed explicitly for permanent outdoor installation.
Constraints of volume and space disappear outdoors and players can experiment and explore the sounds of these large-scale percussion instruments freely.
The term percussion means ‘struck’ and strictly speaking percussion instruments are those that will produce a sound when they are struck with a beater, mallet, or hand. New instruments are always being invented and added to the percussionist’s repertoire – likewise, Percussion Play is always developing and expanding its range of outdoor musical instruments.
For example the recent launch of Inspired By Nature, a collection of nature-themed botanical outdoor musical instruments beginning with musical flowers. So be sure to check back regularly to see what’s new in the world of outdoor percussion!
